Well, technically I’ve had five different media loaners since this past spring, various minor iterations and such. Lastly, in the case of the NEO Smart bike, I have a media loaner. So ultimately these are all new bikes with new components, it’s just you happened to hear about it well before the Tacx bun came out of the oven. Wahoo has been working on their bike just as long as Tacx, but simply weren’t public about it. While Tacx may have shown their cards a bit early in the development cycle, the reality is that all companies have elongated development release timeframes. Thankfully, the NEO Bike is more akin to the NEO 2T in fact, the NEO 2T is designed after the bike.īut we’re getting ahead of ourselves. But going on two years now, and we’ve seen last year’s release of the Tacx NEO 2, and this year the Tacx NEO 2T. When it was first shown in 2017, it was modeled after a Tacx NEO (1) trainer. And in some respects, there’s actually a lot of truth to that. And in my mind, I keep thinking that by now I should be calling this the NEO Bike 2.

That’s how long it’s been since Tacx first announced the NEO Bike Smart. That’s downright awesome for a NA v8, especially one designed in 2006.Two years and two weeks. Speaking of torque down low, the 5.7 is no slouch: I read in an LX570 brochure that the 5.7L makes 90% of its max torque (401 ft-lbs) at 2200 rpm. Very confidence inspiring, though I understand the numbers are bested by other v8s in the segment. Something else about the 5.7: it just feels extremely solid. If I needed to tow more than 8k lbs, I’d be in an HD truck. I expect to continue to put high miles on it and maintain it and have no issues for a very long time. My truck is paid off, and I’m happy to feed it all it needs to keep taking me all the places I want to go, whether I’m towing or not, every single time I want to go. But it is more than enough for what my truck is rated for, and it is PROVEN. Not for the power, as I understand it’s outmatched stock vs stock. Given the choice, I’d still buy a 5.7 truck. My opinion is, its outlook for long term dependability (the only reason I own a Tundra) is favorable but currently unknown. And all the torque down low is pretty awesome. I’m sure the driving experience with the 3.4TT is fun.
